History of Art

A class that I really like is the History of Art. In this class, as its name implies review the art through history, as influenced society, as manifested different movements, as influenced contemporary art and also serves to account for social problematic that was in a particular age.
Still I do not see all the contents or have completed the course, but what we've seen so far seems very interesting and, maybe that’s the reason I find it easy to understand. Last year when it was my first time in this course we saw the pre-modern art, starting with the drawings in the caves gave up the romance, and through all the different events that occurred in the different ages as well we saw was changing ways of thinking and think the world of the people. And this year, in my second year of art history, we are dedicated to view and analyze more than anything the vanguards and thought he had followed her, and the good thing that we focused in not only art, also to philosophers involved in these movements together with artists, literary, political forms (like anarchism in Dadaism and Futurism in fascism).

This subject I really like that is very complete, is not only to pray for different artists see it to understand and analyze.

Religious practices

The other day I was bored on the computer and I don’t know how or why I got to an article naming the strangest practices of religions and I spent most of the time thinking of their customs, but I didnt understand the thinking that those religions had.
The article mentioned things such as sacred underwear that occurred in a certain group of Mormons, men and women had to wear a garment that covered from their shoulders to their knees, completely white, as an act of faith and devosión to god.
Also it talked of a Jewish ritual where someone had to give a person chicken three times over the head of a man to free him from his sins, and then the chicken was slaughtered and donated to the poor. In 2005 in the U.S. there were so many dead chickens lying in the street they had to fine the Jews from this practice.
It also mentioned a religion that I had never heard of, Jainism, where men walked naked as they felt dressed for the environment, but that was not the strangeness of this religion, it was that their only possession was a broom peacock feather.
And the article kept saying there were still fun facts of religions around the world, who , and that made me see the different ideas and ways of life there.

The Sleep of the Beloved

This photo belongs to Paul Schneggenburger's series. He is a German photographer.
The proyect is called "The Sleep of the Beloved”. The picture was taken in 2012 and shows the unconscious figures of a couple of black sheets ... I think it is a delight for the eye.
They are photographs of six hours, where you can check if it is really true that they threw the blankets, they are very sticky or rather independent ...
I like this photo because it shows the lover's dreams, it is a very romantic photo that shows the nocturne dance of a couple during sleeptime, on their complete unconsciousness, how they look for and repeal  each other.
The photo secuency was taken over six hours at night, while a real couple was sleeping, the firts photo was taken at midnight and they finished at six o'clock in the morning.

"The Sleep of the Beloved” was born as his diploma at the university of applied arts Vienna.

My favorite piece of technology

My favorite piece of technology is my notebook, its really practic and usefull for all types of thingsI don’t remember when I got mi first notebook, but the second one I had my mom bought in 2010 the problem is that I accidentally spilled water on it and pitifully it stopped working. The good news is that my father bought a new one and gave me his old one .I have my laptop (my fathers old one) since last year and now we are inseparable, I depend on it to do my university work and I really think that it would be imposible to study without a notebook or computer.I use my notebook to do plans, search for pictures tha I can relate my work to, read books, write essays and ofcorse use facebook only to be in touch with my classmates for university work ( this is a big lie). It’s really usefull, and not nessesary I not only can work in my house but I can bring it to the university too.I wouldn’t even want to imagine my life without it, it would be complicated and clearly it would be more dificult to move along with my work fastly , and I would me totally disconected to the world.

Did you know there are earthquakes on the moon?

These are known as moonquakes and they're are fairly common.
Moonquakes are caused by internal rearrangement of the Moon's orbit, that is because this
it's not a perfect circle, as it has deep imperfections generated by tides, and surface imperfections
whose origin is the expansion of the rocks produced by the heat of the Sun .
Natural moonquakes are originated inside of the lunar globe, and there hace been detected up to four
earthquakes per week, but of two degrees in the Richter scale, so almost not enough to
be earthquakes, tremors alone would almost be imperceptiles by man.
But another curiosity related to this is that moonquakes occur most often when the moon is
at the closest point to the earth, and there are telluric movement that can reach five Richter degrees.

Florence and The Machine

I’m gonna talk about a band called Florence and The Machine, my favorite band.Florence and The Machine is an English band composed of hes vocalist Florence Welch, his guitarist Robert Ackroyd, Christopher Lloyd Hayden on the drums, Isabella Summer on the piano and Tom monger on the harp, and that is the sound that caracterizes the band. It's caracterized by a sound very similar to soul mixed with alternative rock and instrumental. They're new in the marketplace, their first album was released in 2009 ("Cosmic Love") and the second one was released two years after that and it's called Ceremonials. What I really like about that band is the original music that they create, with all that new sounds that harmonize with the vocals in a very good way. Florences’ voice is the other thing that I really love aout the band, she is able to catch very high notes and keep them, and her voice works with all the instruments that join it. I'm really not a expert in music, but I really think that this is one of the few good bands in this time.My favorite song it's called "No light", because I like the lyrics and specially Florence's high tones in this song. And particullary this video is really beautiful and as good as the song.

Old terror movies... What happened?

I think the old terror movie was better than now. In this day the movies have an excellent graphic and special effect, but the directors seem to have been forget all about trama.
Maybe I didn´t live in The Exorsist time, but I know that kind of films and I believe that movies made screem to people.
The oldest film had a pshycological terror, i mean, the movie is not scared only because the character heard weird noises or there is a monster or a witch, it´s because there is a mistery, an uncommon thing that make you afraid for your life and for that the people you care about and you love. This is, however, only the bigning, to other hand, there is the performance that in this days it's really bad, now the films focus in the action, in the blood, in special effect, but totally forget about character feeling.
I miss movies like The Shining, Infernal Possesion, Friday the 13th, maybe the action is not the best, but thats movies innovating in the scene of terror on the cine and made us jump out of us seats.
